Proposed 45-Acre Footprint

Here’s an aerial view of the neighborhood impact of the Peace Bridge Expansion Plan

City Land to be Taken for Peace Bridge Expansion

45 Acres, including:

  • several city blocks
  • 90 properties (128 households)
  • several locally-owned / operated businesses
  • approximately $25-MILLION in lost tax assessed valuation
  • over 200 "legacy” trees
  • any possible chance of reclaiming Fort Porter land

PBA’s recently revised map:

Recent PBA Map

The large kidney shaped asphalt “plaza” encompasses the current plaza (where Fort Porter once stood) PLUS 3 blocks of Busti Avenue (where homes now stand).  The "smaller" kidney above it is flanked by the Duty Free store (left) and multi-level parking for 400+ cars — at the sacrifice of 2 additional blocks of homes. Front Park is the green space to the lower right — with access ramps / roads for Interstate Rte 90 between it and the enjoyment of our waterfront. So much for “quiet reflection”.

Here's their map, with pre-Bridge Hertage Map (Olmsted plan for Front Park) as overlay:
